The Eatery

Welcome to The Eatery
Chef, Tullishe Le Roux, opened The Eatery after numerous successful years at Lourensford. She wanted some rest and peace but The Eatery has been so popular that they are planning to enlarge the space to open a deli adjacent to the restaurant. They freshly bake their croissants and muffins daily. Be sure to pop in to invest in some baked goods and preserves.

I always refer to this place as my little piece of Cape Town in Hermanus. They serve the best croissants I have ever had. I can probably call them "brossiant" because the croissant has the right consistency and crispness of freshly baked bread but it tastes just like a croissant. The menu is fresh and innovative. Every meal has an ordinary element that The Eatery has zoosed up to take the meal to a next level.

At my recent visit I had a delicious Cajun chicken salad. It was a hearty portion of chicken, mango, feta cheese, sprouts and saladings for (R48). You won’t be disappointed with a bowl of tomatoes and salad leaves. In one word I can describe them as generous. Generous with their portion and service.

The menu does change now and again but be prepared to be wowed by dishes such as corncakes with grilled vegetables, crème fraiche, tomato chilli jam and avocado (R40), full breakfast (R40), Lamb and rosemary burger with spicy pear chutney and fat chips (R55).

For those with the sweet tooth indulge in baked vanilla cheesecake, pavlova with lemon curd and fresh fruit or chocolate brownie with caramel sauce. All reasonably priced at R25.

Service is excellent. Polite, friendly young men serve you and they really are there to make your dining experience the best you can have. They are there to ask for a refill before you have to ask them and bring you a glass of water on those hot summer days. They contribute to the charm The Eatery has to offer.

Eatery is open planned so that you can see the chefs hard at work. They have a very fresh and minimalistic look but there is still a sense of warmth. I have visited them numerous times and they are one of my favourite blogging spot as they have free Wi-Fi :).

The coffee is hot and strong just as I like it.

The place always packed so the vibe is very cheery. This is a must stop breakfast and lunch place in Hermanus.
