Ataraxia - Wine tasting serenity

Discovered another wine tasting gem on the "Hemel en aarde" road near Hermanus this weekend. I always noticed a church like builiding when driving on this road but did not know that it was accessible.

Ataraxia
Myself and a few friends wanted to wine and relax after a lovely lunch. We were driving and then realised that we did not have enough petrol in the car to take us to Creation.( A previous wine farm I have blogged about.) I then noticed Ataraxia's sign and for the first time I can say I am glad I almost got stranded next to the road with an empty tank.

Monique starting with the Savignon Blanc.
The tasting room is in a old chapel decked out with lounging areas, art pieces and warm sun streeming through the big windows. Perfect for a wintersday. Together with extremely friendly service and a beautifull view we had a fabulous time.

Artsy tasting area
We tasted five wines for FREE! The wines we tasted included Pinot Noir, Savignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Merlot and their mysterious wine Serenity. Only the wine makers know the substance of Serenity and it changes from season to season. This is one way of making wine tasting exciting and surprising.

The friends all "wined-up"
Beautiful view!
Prices of the wines are from R88 and upwards. I am no wine connoisseur but most of their wines are more on the sweet side. An aspect I really enjoyed!
