Muldersbosch & skilpadvlei

Another pizza and wine gem is situated on the Polkadraai road outside Stellenbosch. The flatmate organised a very hot but relaxing Sunday at Muldersbosch. There are various lounging spots outside where you can indulge in pizzas(R75) and wine tasting.

My favourite pizza was the fig, pancetta and blue cheese. Other combinations to try are portabellini and truffle oil, artichoke and black olive or biltong, sweet peppadew and avocado. They offer the option to go halfies so you can enjoy two pizzas at once. For the non-pizza lovers their chacuterie and cheese platter(R120) also comes highly recommended. They also have a great indoor area with aircon for those very summery days.

Delicious, well priced pizzas

Their Sauvignon Blanc(R75) was refreshing and welcoming to quench the thirst on the hot summers day. Well priced and very easy to drink :) The wine tasting fee depends on which range you want to taste. It will cost you between R35-R55.

Muldersbosch is perfect for a day out with family or a group of friends. There's also a boule field to work off all the pizza calories :)

Service was friendly and efficient.

This is a must-stop for summer!

What other gems are situated on the Polkadraai road?

Across from Mulderbosch is Skilpadvlei where we did a wine tasting before we headed to Muldersbosch.

The tasting room is small but cute and the hostess was very friendly, informed and chatty. The tasting fee is wavered when you purchase a bottle of wine.

For a skilpad party (baie dop en min tjop) Skilpadvlei recommends their 2009 Skilpaddop Dry red(R45). Its a very easy drinking wine and you will have to ensure you have more than one bottle in stock. Their 2011 Skilpadvlei Caberenet Sauvignon/Shiraz(R69) is a bit heavier and will rather go with a nice dinner of pasta or steak. The boyfriend loved this wine and we left with a bottle of this. I preferred the party wine ;) All their wines are well priced and  only available from the estate.

You will find them only 8 kms from Stellenbosch on the M12 (Polkadraai Road).
