The Bombay Bicycle Club - Lets go to the circus...

The  Bombay Bicycle Club is situated at the top of Kloof street! Its part of the Madame Zingara venture! This is my 'celebration' restaurant. I've been here for a date, with family and with a group of friends. Bombay can be enjoyed by just having a drink or for wining and dining. A night here will let you forget that you are in Cape Town!

Outside Bombay Bicycle Club

First impression: You won't know where to focus. There is a table with swings as chairs, sharks hanging from the roof, clutter as décor and usually a fully packed restaurant. Their décor reminds me of a  mix between the circus and a vintage bargain store.

When you make a booking ask for the table with the swing chairs!

I see something new every time I visit!
Food

Begin your evening with one of their really nice starters. I've tried the carpaccio (R75) and phyllo parcels that contained chicken, spinach and mozzarella served with a creamy mushroom sauce(R60).  Something I still want to try is the Drunken Camembert (R45). Its Camembert deep fried in beer batter served on a basil infused tomato coulis.

I'm not a big meat lover but Bombay's ribs (R145) converted me. The ribs are based in a sweet sticky marinade and served with the best potato and pumpkin mash that I have ever had! They are also famous for their chocolate chili steak. Take note that for R145 you only receive the steak, chocolate chili sauce and some garnish of crispy noodles.

More affordable dishes on their Menu are their pastas ranging from R 65- 95 but if your budget allows it... HAVE THE RIBS :)

End off the evening with Bombay cigars (R45). They are chocolate filled cigars that are deep fried and served with ice cream.

Drinks
House wine goes for between R90 - R110 a bottle. If that's too steep for you they allow corkage at R30 per bottle between 4 people. They don't serve the best cocktails that I've had and I enjoyed the wine more together with the cosy atmosphere.
Service
At the entrance you are greeted by a dressed up guard :) From there on a very and attentive waiter will serve you throughout the night.
